The Spyker company started out as coachbuilders in Amsterdam before constructing its first automobile in 1898.

Spijker was technologically adventurous, introducing the first six-cylinder car with four-wheel drive and all-round brakes in 1903, by which time the name had changed to the more internationally acceptable ‘Spyker’.

Despite a reputation for quality and the achievement of some notable competition successes, the original Spyker company disappeared in 1925.

Dutch manufacturer Spyker was reborn in 1999.

Founded by Victor Muller and Maarten de Bruijn, the reconstituted company was set up to manufacture exclusive sports cars commencing with the Spyker C8, which debuted at the Birmingham International Motor Show in October 2000.

The C8 engineering package, meticulously designed from the ground up with an ultra-rigid space frame, is crafted using aluminum sheet and extrusions.

The hand-crafted bodywork was formed by Coventry Prototype Panels in the U.K. and Karmann in Germany from aluminum sheets of outstanding durability.

The car’s streamlined floor section generates downforce, ensuring it remains firmly planted on the ground even at high speeds.

The C8 was powered by a 4.2-litre Audi V8 engine producing approximately 400bhp and had a top speed of around 300km/h (186mph).

The C8 won instant acclaim, receiving the Institute of Vehicle Engineers Design Award soon after its introduction.

In 2002 the first competition version, the C8 Double12R endurance racer, was entered by the Spyker Squadron factory racing team at Le Mans.

The last C8 Spyder built, chassis number ‘110’ left the factory in 2014, just before Spyker went into bankruptcy.

ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

Delivered in the Netherlands in 2005, this particular Spyker C8 was ordered in Dark Sapphire Blue paint over a Beige leather.

This exceptionally rare hand-crafted sports car since 2005 has added a mere 27 Kilometers on the odometer!

This particular Spyker is basically, a 20-year-old brand-new car.

Like all C8 Spyders, it features a high level of standard equipment including an Audi-sourced mid-mounted 4.2-liter V8 producing 400 horsepower, an all-aluminum hardtop, electrically-operated scissor doors, Koni shock absorbers, and brakes from AP Racing.

The Spyker has been kept warm, dry and inactive since it was delivered new to the former owner’s collection.

In preparation for the sale, the car is currently at a specialized workshop in the Netherlands which is directed by a former employee of Spyker for a comprehensive engine-out major service that included replacement of all fluids and filters, along with a new timing belt, water pump, thermostat, pulleys, drive belt, and a fresh set of tires.

While the Spyker C8’s exterior initially draws attention, it is the interior that captivates most, showcasing Spyker’s aviation heritage at its core.

Upon entering the car, one is immediately struck by the dashboard and instrument panel, which exude a design reminiscent of airplane aesthetics, embellished with aluminum and leather trim.

The cabin is trimmed in tan leather with diamond-patterned stitching that extends from the bolstered seats to the dashboard, kick panels, console, and transmission tunnel.

Behind the controls, drivers will discover the distinctive aluminum Aeroblade steering wheel, wrapped in luxurious Hulshof leather and accented with rivets along the rim, featuring two propellers.

Another standout feature is the uniquely designed gear lever, crafted to emphasize the unconventional shift mechanism that enhances the car’s distinctiveness.

A beautiful set of tan fitted leather luggage is included.

CONDITION EXTERIOR

It is clear to see that the car has always been stored very well.

The glossy Blue paintwork, has clearly not been exposed to very much of anything at all.

As can be expected from a car with just ‘delivery mileage’ on the odometer, this gorgeous Spyker C8 presents in exceptional, nearly showroom-fresh condition inside and out.

The bodywork is very good and is free of any dents or scratches of any real significance.

The wheels are all undamaged. The windows do not show any scratches or stone chips.

CONDITION INTERIOR

The luxurious and roomy interior has a sporty but at the same time elegant feeling.

The interior can be seen the same condition wise as the exterior. Nobody really sit in the car so the car is as new inside as well.

The driver seat is comfortable, with ample leg- and headroom for taller drivers.

The boot is in the same exemplary condition.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

Finally, of course, the driving experience. Imagine yourself in pure luxury with the sound of a roaring V8 behind you.

Driving the Spyker C8 is a thrilling and unforgettable experience.

It feels surprisingly comfortable and easy to handle.

We think a brand new Spyker C8 not only will it be an investment, but it’ll provide as much fun as a more modern supercar costing considerably more.
